I’ve been working as a subconsultant for Southern Road & Bridge (SRB) since last fall. SRB was awarded a contract to repaint portions of the US 395 Pioneer Memorial Bridge that spans the Columbia River between Kennewick and Pasco.
I have been helping SRB remain compliant with WSDOT contract specifications in regard to bird protection. Swallows use the bridge for nesting and they are protected by federal law. As such, I assisted SRB with a Bird Protection Plan and am monitoring implemented bird protection measures onsite three days a week.
SRB has been really good to work with; staff have been professional, creative, responsive, communicative, and polite. John K., the project managment head honcho out there for SRB, gave me a tour of under-deck progress from the SRB boat.
