2024 Wrap-up

As is usually the case, I get so wrapped up in work I forget to keep up with updates.  2024 is already coming to a close and it’s hard to believe how fast it blew by!

Since my last post in August, I have been consistently engaged with a variety of interesting projects, including: a residential development project in Richland (shrubsteppe survey, wetland evaluation), two development projects in Sunnyside (wetland delineations), Yakama Nation Fisheries (Upper Cle Elum River Restoration Project) to benefit sockeye reintroduction (wetland delineation), subconsultant work for HLA Engineering and Land Surveying (wetland delineation, City of Union Gap Project), subconsultant work for PLSA Engineering and Surveying (ordinary high water mark, private development project), Columbia Reach Pack (wetland mitigation and monitoring), Auvil Fruit, LLC (riparian buffer restoration monitoring), residential development project near Cle Elum Lake (county Reasonable Use Exception), bird protection monitoring wrap-up in Tri-Cities (WSDOT project, Southern Road and Bridge), and One Energy Renewables (solar farm due diligence assessment).

2025 is already populated with additional projects to tide me over during the snowy Eastern Washington winter.  I am currently working as a subconsultant under Northwest Hydraulic Consultants and White Bluffs Consulting to provide wetland and ESA permitting support (wetland delineation, biological assessment) for the Touchet River Dredge Project, an action consistent with the Columbia County Comprehensive Flood Hazard Management Plan.  I am also providing wetland permitting support for a restoration project on the West Fork Teanaway River for Mid-Columbia Fisheries Enhancement Group.  Work on the Klickitat State Park Trail – Bridging the Final Gap Project will continue, for which I am a subconsultant under Fulcrum Environmental to assist with ESA and wetland permitting (biological assessment, wetland delineation).  I have also recently been contracted to deliver a wetland/stream buffer impact assessment and mitigation/monitoring plan for a local project in Yakima under HLA Engineering and Land Surveying.

2024 has been a terrific year for GG Environmental, LLC.  I am truly grateful to God for the opportunity He has given me to earn a freelance living.  It is not an easy career, but it suits me well.  I look forward to 2025.  May you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
